The USF volleyball team, riding a 6-game winning streak (8-5
on the year) hit the road for their first Big East game of the season. They will face a tough Rutgers team that is
14-1 on the year (4-0 at home) as they begin conference play (game begins at
2PM).
RU is led by senior outside hitter Kylie Orr (5-11) who has
162 kills, 12 service aces, 50 digs, and 14 blocks on the season. Senior setter Stephanie Zielinski (5-10) has
31 kills, 657 assists, and 179 digs, anchoring the center of the offense. Freshman outside hitter Sarah Schmid (6-1)
has 199 kills, 17 service aces, and 43 digs.
Junior defensive specialist Tracy Wright (5-6) has 29 assists and 213
digs to round out the Scarlet Knights squad.
This is going to be a real test of the young Bulls
squad. USF has been playing well, riding
high on this winning streak, but now the competition gets tougher as league
play begins and the tough teams of the Big East become the new foes. Expect the Bulls to battle hard, for the
freshmen to continue to shine, and the senior leaders to set the example as the
Bulls try to get a first big win in conference play.
