USF Men's Soccer Takes on Providence

The USF men’s soccer team returns home after a rough road trip looking to bounce back as they begin Big East play.  After falling 0 to 5 to Akron, the Bulls are 4-2-1 on the year and want to get the conference portion of the schedule started right as they host Providence.  The Friars are 2-4-1 and will be looking to upset the Bulls at Corbett (game begins at 730PM).

The Friars are led by junior forward/midfielder Wilder Arboleda who is tied for the team lead in goals with 2 (14 shots) and has 1 assist on the year.  Senior forward Keith Jecewiz has 2 goals and 1 assist to make up a dynamic front line for the Friars on the attack.  Sophomore midfielder Marcos Urgarte has 1 goal and 1 assist on the season, but has taken 15 shots already, showing no hesitation to attack.  Junior forward Brian Grisell has 2 assists to help round out the offensive attack for the Friars.  Eric Osswald, who gave up 5 goals last time out, won’t be facing the offensive firepower that Akron had but has to do a solid job with help from the backline to stop the Friars from taking over momentum in the game.

On the other side is sophomore goalkeeper Keasel Broome who has allowed 6 goals all season and made 15 saves.   Despite winning games late, the Bulls have failed to get all of great opportunities through on offense.  USF each game has had great looks at the net, but has struggled to put any goals together early in games and that has to change with this contest.  Look for USF to come out and dictate the pace of the game and get the lead early to establish themselves and put the pressure on Providence.  The slow starts for USF have been frustrating and need to stop with the start of conference play.
