The USF women’s soccer team, after splitting their two matches over last weekend, return to Tampa with a 5-4-1 (1-1-1) record and are looking to notch another conference win as Cincinnati comes to town. The Bearcats, 4-5-1 (1-2-0) will be looking for the upset, but the home turf of Corbett will make that hard (game begins at 730PM).
Cincinnati is led by freshman forward Laura Rose (5-1) who has 5 goals to lead the team and has added 1 assist. Junior midfielder Katie Greer (5-5) has 1 goal and 3 assist, acting more as the facilitator on the front line. Sophomore forward Mackenzie Grause (5-8) has 2 goals on the year. Freshman forward Callie Taylor (5-9) has 3 assists and junior forward Jazmine Rhodes (5-10) has 1 goal and 1 assist to round out their offensive attack. Freshman goalkeeper Christiane Endler and the USF defense have been shutting everyone down recently and will continue that trend in this game, allowing the offense, that has been struggling a chance to attack.
In net for Cincinnati is sophomore Kristina Utley (5-8) who has allowed 17 goals this season and has made 57 saves. Allowing 17 goals after just 10 games is an alarming number and for the Bulls, who are struggling to put the shots through, could have some open looks in this game. The bigger number is the 57 saves she has. Allowing that many shots to happen on the goalkeeper shows a weak back line that should play into USF’s hand with their tempo and ability to fire away. Let’s just hope all those shots equal some goals.
This match is going to be quite spectacular seeing as how the enthusiast of onlookers are getting more and more overwhelming over time. Let's just hope things will turn out for the best and a fair competition can commence.
