The USF ladies, 2-2, hit the field again in Orlando as they take
on Dartmouth in the second game of the UCF tournament. After dropping the first game of the tournament to Georgia 1 to 2, the
Bulls will end the tournament with a game against Dartmouth (game begins at noon).
Dartmouth is playing just their second game of the
season, after dropping the first game to UCF yesterday 0 to 2. DC (Dartmouth College) is
coming off of a tough 2011 season where they finished 4-12-0 (2-5-0) and were
0-10-0 in neutral sites and managed to score just 9 goals over their entire
season. The Bulls should have the
advantage in this game with their speed, but let’s see what they have to
contend with in this game (game begins at noon).
DC is led by sophomore forward Tasha Wilkins (5-9) who led
the team with 3 goals last season (6 SOG).
Junior midfielder Marina Moschitto (5-9) added 1 goal (10 SOG) and 1
assist last season. Junior midfielder
Chrissy Lozier (5-7) had 1 goal (4 SOG) and 1 assist in 2011. Junior defender Kelly Brait (5-4) had 2
assists as well in 2011, coming up from the backline to help on offense.
In net is sophomore Tatiana Saunders (5-9) who allowed 17
goals last season and made 36 saves (allowed 2 goals to UCF and made 6 saves), going 1-9 in her starts. The team lost Colleen Hogan to graduation
after last season (played well in the net) so it will be up to Saunders to protect
the net, but against the aggressive attack of Passariello, Harper, and Stokes,
it will be tough to deal with.
So what should we expect in this game for the Bulls? After
facing a former NCAA tournament team, the Bulls get a team that will struggle a
bit on offense and has a goalkeeper that has given up a lot of goals in the
past, which means the ladies should and must come out and dictate the pace of
the game. I look for Passariello and Stokes to set the
table and for coach Schilte-Brown to rotate the younger players in and allow
them to work and get into game rhythm as the Bulls continue to press on into
the season.
