Genus Leaving Big Hole for Bulls

The Bulls will have to replace All-Big East center Sampson Genus in 2011.

The Bulls won in Charlotte, but they are going to lose a big piece of their offense. Senior center Sampson Genus is graduating and leaving a big hole behind on the offensive line for the Bulls to try to fill in for the 2011 season.[Keep reading]

Genus, 6'1" 315-pounds was an All-Big East performer for the Bulls this season. Genus led a veteran offensive line this year that became focused on running the ball as Todd Fitch took over the offense. Genus is a powerful run blocker and also helped out in calling the defenses before the snap. Now that Genus is graduating, the Bulls will have to look around to find someone to take his spot and take over one of the most vital spots on the entire team.

The Bulls have junior Kevin McCaskill that could fill in. He is 6'1" 308-pounds and athletic enough to take over the position and lead the front line, but there could be others that the Bulls look to and the recruiting class of 2011 is not yet set, so the Bulls could sign a JUCO or freshman that could fight for playing time. Whoever takes over the spot, they will have big shoes to fill as they follow one of the best players USF has had in years.
