From Greg Auman - In an offseason that saw nearly every coach either get fired or someone hired to replace them in the Big East, the USF coaching staff remained intact. But now, all of a sudden, quarterbacks coach Peter Vaas is getting some interest to coach at another school (a former Big East school too).
Boston College has reportedly contact Vaas about taking over at the offensive coordinator for the Eagles. There are multiple candidates for the job, but Vaas is certainly high on their list due to his previous experience as an offensive coordinator with Miami (Ohio), Duke, and New Hampshire.
Vaas has stated he is in no rush and is happy at USF and would be excited to take the BC job as well. As a casual fan, I understand if Vaas made a move. It would be in BCS Conference and a much higher position as well (plus more pay). As a USF fan, I don't want this to happen. Quarterbacks need years to build consistency, something B.J. Daniels is in desperate need of. If Vaas leaves for BC, it could hurt the progression of Daniels as he would have to learn from a new quarterbacks coach for the 2nd straight year.
The decision on Vaas could come within a matter of a few days, so the USF fans should pray and watch that Vaas does not take the job (if offered) and hopes he continues to help build and coach the USF quarterbacks.
