USF is Not Blocking UCF

Why would USF want to keep UCF and their fans out of the Big East? (Yes, this picture is real)
There have been multiple websites out there that keep reporting (with no educational background) that USF is somehow trying to block UCF from entering the Big East. Now before you slam your head on the computer screen due to the pure stupidity of this idea, allow me to go into detail of where this story came from (from Orlando of course).[keep reading]

The story first appeared in the Orlando Sentinel (a high class paper, sarcasm intended here) and was written by Mike Bianchi, a sports reporter for the Sentinel. Those who are not familiar with Bianchi's work, well, you are lucky. Bianchi make false reports, does not conduct any accurate research, and simply butchers the English language (makes him perfect for Orlando - can't wait to get blasted for that jab).

Bianchi reported that he believes USF is trying to block UCF from entering the Big East conference because it fears losing recruiting, revenue, and simply does not want to see a "rival" school enter the conference. Bianchi wrote that article out of his ass and it was reported on other sites and got the fans of both schools fired up over the report, but once again, Bianchi had no background in the subject matter.

USF cannot legally block UCF, so there is no way the school can block UCF from entering, it is up to the Big East conference leaders to decide to offer an invitation. Bianchi even was dumb enough to state that UCF should take legal action if USF tries to block them, which once again, USF has no ability to do. UCF officials even dumbly stated that "we hope USF is not trying to block us." (the genius logic in Orlando continues to go around and around). Recently in a new article, Bianchi wrote that USF is still trying to block UCF because of the recruiting class UCF put together (I guess he thinks it is better than USF's class, then again, USF didn't blindly offer everyone in the country a scholarship and didn't over-sign players - against NCAA rules by the way).

So let's sum up this stupidity. A reporter, the only one to do it, opens his mouth and says USF is blocking UCF from joining the Big East. The report has no truth to it and can't legally be done, yet the reporter says that UCF should look into legal action if it does happen (confused yet?). UCF says it hopes USF is not blocking them, showing the lack of knowledge by UCF leaders. The same moron reporter then again says after recruit USF would block UCF because of recruiting (how is he still employed?).

It is up to the Big East to decide if they want to extend an invitation to UCF to join the conference, USF has no say in the issue. The "rivalry" between the two schools is nonexistent. The Knights have never beaten us in football and the USF fans have no interest in trying to renew (no matter how much uneducated trash-talking the Knight fans try). UCF wouldn't be a bad addition to the conference, but many think they have risen in just a short time like USF did (UCF won their first bowl game this year and was ranked in the top-25, USF won their 4th bowl game and has been ranked 2nd in the country, do your research). UCF has been around since 1979 while USF is now 14 years young, so the comparisons that many sports writers try to put between the schools does not exist.

So this is my personal view on the matter. I am sure many will put me on blast, try to point out what UCF has done over the years, try to explain the "rivalry" between or just support their school, but let's be clear. This is a personal blog about USF, so UCF fans can be upset if I said anything to harsh or try to protect their reporters in Orlando, but make sure you do your research before laying into this post.

  1. I am a usf fan and the school presidents/ads do have a say in who gets invited.... Bianchi is absolute garbage, I agree... But you butcher the english language as bad if not worse than he does. Do a bit more research.

  2. Where he butcher man? You an English professor or something? What research do you have to do to butcher English? The context of your sentences is garbage too.

  3. USF has a vote on to who gets in and who doesn't, that does not mean USF is BLOCKING UCF from getting in.

Is McCain gonna take legal action against most of America because they blocked him from becoming president?

  4. That's right, USF has a vote, but they wouldn't block them because its just UCF, there would have to be just cause. Conference shifting is bullshit anyways.
