The USF baseball team got a much needed win last night as they took care of business over Jacksonville University 9 to 4.
Starting pitcher Nick Gonzalez only lasted 2.2 innings, but Zach Piertrzyk took up the slack and got the win (he is now 2-1 on the season). Quackenbush pitched a scoreless 9th as the Bulls move to 13-15 (3-3) on the season.
The offense decided to show up last night. Koscso was 3 for 6, Sam Mende 2 for 4, and Jimmy Falla was 2 for 5, driving in 3 RBI. The Bulls were able to get out to a quick lead early in the game and the pitching did enough as the Bulls hammered away to get the win (still below .500 but at least they are swinging the bats more than the Rays are).
The Bulls now return how to host Big East foe Rutgers (the fighting Snookis) this weekend, starting the series on Friday at 7 PM. Rutgers is just 11-16 this season, so the Bulls could get a few wins and improve in the Big East standings, get out to the park and cheer them on and help them take down the Jersey invaders!
Alex Gonzalez?
