While USF got the sweep against St. John's and finally improved their record over .500 for the first ime in two years (22-21 now), relief pitcher Kevin Quackenbush got his own personal accolade.
Quack has been nominated as a candidate for the Stopper of Year award. This award is given to the best relief/closer pitcher in the nation. Quack is among multiple candidates to be named to the list, but should be among the favorites to win the award.
Quackenbush has been dominant out of the bullpen this season for the Bulls. He is 11 of 12 in save chances. Opponents are only hitting .101 against him and he has an ERA of just .99. In 27.2 innings of work this year, he has struck out 39 hitters, allowing only 9 hits and walking just 9 batters. He has been able to dominate with his fastball and simply over power hitters and help lock down the 9th inning for USF wins.
Congratulations to Kevin on being added to the watch list, it's a great honor to be added to the list and hopefully he will continue to show why he deserves to win this award as he shuts down opponents in the 9th inning.
