The USF Bulls landed a defensive end commitment tonight. According to Adam Adkins, who tweeted the message earlier this afternoon. 3-star defensive end Daniel Perry, the 6'7" 220-pound star out of University School (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida) is now a Bull. Perry had offers from Oregon, Buffalo, and Western Michigan, but has now given his verbal commitment to the Bulls, making him the 4th commit for Coach Holtz.
Perry had 87 tackles last season, with 3 sacks and an interception (thanks to V5 for recording those stats from Perry last season). Perry is a very raw talent that can add some weight, but is speed and ability to get off the block and track down the ball carrier make him a rare talent and could be a future star. He has a large frame that could be a nightmare to block. We welcome Perry to the USF family and hope he will sign on signing day next season.
The Bulls also lost a former verbal commitment. Defensive end Ryan Brown has de-committed from USF and has now verbally committed to Mississippi State (according to Laura McKeeman on twitter and Scout.com now). This is not a huge surprise. It is very early in recruiting and players will change their mind, make more visits and figure out where they want to play, so best luck to Brown.
Perry gives the Bulls their 4th official verbal commitment now. Rayshawn Jenkins, Jalen Spencer, and D.J. White are the other commits on the board for the Bulls, but this will only pick with with the USF sling and shoot going on (over 200 players on campus for this).
Shouldn't Reno Henderson be listed among the 2011 commitment class?
ReplyDeleteNo, hasn't talked to Coach Holtz or staff yet, so can't make an official visit. They are still evaluating him and other O-line prospects.
