Notes From USF Practice - Day 6

Tyson Butler had a solid day in the secondary for the Bulls despite Daniels leaving with a slight hamstring injury for the day. (Picture: www.usfnation.com)
From Greg Auman and Adam Adkins - Despite the constant rain in the area (entire state) the Bulls got in their first two-a-day practice as they continue to prepare.

Fullback Armando Sanchez sat out the first part of the practice today with ice on his hand. Hopefully it is a minor injury because the Bulls will need him this season. Safety C.J. Garye was also out for the first part of the practice today with what could be a minor injury, nothing to worrisome.

Brynjar Gundmundsson got onto the field at right guard today with the 2nd team offense. Darrell Williams also got onto the field (first real action for the freshman offensive lineman) and lined up at left tackle. At 245-pounds, he will need to add some weight if he wants to play that position down the road.

Freshman linebacker made a nice interception today as well, but was called down by Holtz for high stepping into the endzone.

Two walk-ons safety Tre Johnson (former freshman at Navy) and cornerback Travon Griffin have joined the team as well.

The scary news came today when Daniels went down with a hamstring injury and need ice and was limping around after it. According to coaches, he has been battling a bit of a sore hamstring and found it knot up when he went down. He will be out a few days, but should be ready to for the start of the season.

The second part of the practice tonight got in with the rain clouds looming in the background.

Daniels was the only player not in pads as he tries to heal up. Sanchez and Garye were both back on the field after sitting out the first practice of the day nursing minor injuries.

The night practice went well with the weather playing nicely. Daniels was out but in good spirits. He will be out a few days and should be fully healthy by the time they scrimmage and when they return next week.

Sanchez and Garye were back out on the field practicing well. Freshman receiver Andre Davis continued to impress with his ability to get up to the ball and catch in traffic. Tyson Butler also played well which is a very important sign for the secondary depth.

We will have more tomorrow as the Bulls continue to prepare for the 2011 season.
