Rush Through the Roster: Augustus Gilchrist

The roster break down continues as we take a look at the leading returning scorer for the Bulls, senior forward Augustus Gilchrist. Gilchrist was the most consistent scorer for Heath last season despite missing some time due to some off the court issues. He nearly left for the NBA, but decided to return for his final season and adds tremendous skill and size to the paint for coach Heath.

Augustus Gilchrist - 6'10" 245-pounds - Senior - Forward/Center

Gilchrist led the Bulls with 13.4 points per game and averaged 6 rebounds per game. He started 24 of 30 games for Heath, coming off the bench when needed and providing a big body in the paint for the Bulls.

Gilchrist is a skilled big man that can play physical in the paint, battling for rebounds and working around the basket. He can also hurt an opponent by his range. Gilchrist does have 3-point range, while not the most accurate shooter, he will spot up at the top of the key if the defense doesn't play the ball. Having a mid-range and 3-point game, it gives Gilchrist a great advantage against opponents.

The Bulls will look for him to have a bigger season after a disappointing 2010-2011 campaign. If he can continue to produce solid numbers and gets scoring help from his other teammates, 2011-2012 could be a big season for him and the Bulls. Heath will rely on him to lead the team on the court and he will have to come up big.
