Week 10 is already here for the Big East and as the season hits November, the contest between the 3 of us continues to heat. Mike still leads the series, while I sit in second place, trying to get some ground on him. Meanwhile, Jim sits in third place, but sits just a game out. Let's see who can gain some ground this weekend.
Syracuse at UCONN
Matt: Syracuse looked really bad in their last game against the Cardinals and doesn't seem to do well with a lot of pressure in their face. UCONN on the other hand can't score anything, but playing at home with their solid rush defense and their running game are going to win the game here, although it will be a typical slow and ugly offensive game to watch. Pick: UCONN
Mike: The matchup we've all been waiting for. The showdown between two teams who inexplicably beat the ones who were supposed to be good. It's not going to be pretty, but I'm going with Syracuse
Jim: Do I have to pick this one? Syracuse recently fell flat to Louisville, and UCONN, well, they're UCONN. The way this conference operates, UCONN could very well win this one, and that's what I'm banking on. Pure dumb luck. Pick: UCONN.
Louisville at WVU
Matt: The Cards showed some life on offense last weekend, Bridgewater had his best game of his young career, but on the road at WVU is going to be hard. I am sure Jim will be happy to watch this game as Geno Smith gets to warmer conditions and gets the passing game going. Look for WVU to win this game by a few scores.
Mike: I'm still a little gunshy after the Syracuse game, but I don't think Louisville poses too much of a threat. I'm thinking West Virginia's offense can put up some good points, and Louisville just won't be able to keep up.
Jim: I was told earlier by a friend that if WVU stopped Bridgewater, the Eers would be fine. Bridgewater and Geno Smith competed against each other during their high school years. The way WVU's defense has acted during Syracuse and the first half of Rutgers, I wouldn't be surprised if this game turned into a shootout, with the edge going to the Mountaineers, who will be playing at home for the first time since early last month. Pick: WVU.
USF at Rutgers
Matt: USF needs to get it together in this offense. Bulls need to find a way to win a few more games if they want to get to a bowl. Pick: USF
Mike: The Bulls are 0-3 in conference play already, and they come to play the one team who has had their number for the past few years. USF's secondary is going to have some work to do, but I think the offense can keep points on the board (as long as Todd Fitch stays away from it). I think USF can get back on their feet.
Jim: Kick Slutgers while they're down. Pick: USF
Cincinnati at Pitt
Matt: The Bearcats are going to be a team to deal with in the Big East race. Pitt won last week and still technically controls their fate in the conference, but losing Ray Graham is devastating to their chances. This game will be pretty close, Pitt will fight back and if Sunseri throws for 400 yards again, it could be a close one, but the Bearcats walk away with the win. Pick: Cincinnati
Mike: This is one of the best games of the entire Big East schedule all season, and I'm glad to see that at least one team still has a chance to win this conference outright. Ray Graham won't be 100% on Saturday, and I don't see Sunseri carrying the team to a victory. I'm going with Cincy by a touchdown.
Jim: The River City Rivalry, the battle for the Paddlewheel Trophy. Will Pitt (potentially) be taking this one to the ACC after this season, or will it go back to the Bearcats? I think Cincy takes this game handily. Pick: Cincinnati.
