USF MBB Drops Game to Penn State

We feel the same way Coach.

This has been a rough weekend for USF sports. The men's basketball team dropped their second straight game as they fall 49 to 53 to Penn State. USF scored only 17 points in the first half, battling Penn State the entire game. While the loss is bad, Augustus Gilchrist injured his shoulder and missed the second half. This is the worst news to hear.

Ron Anderson had 6 points. LaVonte Dority had 3 points (has to do more shooting the ball!). Toarlyn Fitzpatrick had 11 points, doing a solid coming off the bench and giving some offense with Gus out. Blake Nash had 14 points, but dealt with foul trouble the entire game. Shaun Noriega had 5 points as he continues to struggle in the beginning of the season. Hugh Robertson had 6 points. Victor Rudd had 4 points and fouled out in the second half. With both Rudd and Gus out, USF was very limited in what they could do in the second half of the game (bench is thin with Poland out as well).

USF lost the game, but the biggest news from this game is the injury to Gilchrist. We have not heard how bad the injury is to his shoulder and probably won't know until they return home and hear it from USF officially, but if he misses any time for USF, it will hurt the front line. Heath is thin on the front line to start and with Gus hurt, the Bulls lose scoring and size inside. We pray he is healthy and can get back on the court.

USF plays Georgia Southern on Wednesday night (7PM) in the St. Pete Times Forum. Hopefully they can learn from this game, come back and win a game they must win.
