The rough weekend for USF sports continued today as the Bulls lost 1 to 0 to Villanova in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament.
Nova scored in the first 3 minutes with Kyle Soroka hitting a goal over Chris Blais and that was it for scoring. USF had plenty of chances in the game, shooting 9 times and having plenty of corner kicks, but Fogarty, the goalkeeper for Nova, continued to snag the kicks in mid-air. Nova also held Dwyer quiet, not getting a shot in the entire game, frustrating the home team as they drop the first round.
Nova now has to wait for the seeding for the NCAA tournament. At 12-3-3, the Bulls should get a solid seed and a chance to host at least one tournament game, but they will most likely lose a Top 4 or Top 8 seed with the loss today. It was a hard fought game, but now USF has to prepare for the NCAA tournament and the bigger prize at hand.
