Jasmine Wynne continues to lead the way for USF as they notch win number 7 on the season (Picture: Yahoo Sports) |
After a rough loss to Auburn, the USF ladies, 7-5, got back to their winning ways as they took care of business against Maryland Eastern Shore 71 to 50. USF forced 29 turnovers in the game as the defense settled down after a fast start for both teams and the Bulls were able to pull away after that.
Tahira Johnson had 4 points and 5 rebounds. Akila McDonald had just 2 points (1 of 8 shooting, struggling right now) but pulled down 5 rebounds. Jasmine Wynne had her 8th straight double digit scoring game with 19 points, 2 assists, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals on the afternoon. Kanesiha Saunders had 2 points and 2 steals. Sasha Bernard had 4 assists and 2 steals on the afternoon as well.
Andrell Smith, coming off the bench, had 11 points and 4 rebounds (didn't turn the ball over, something she has struggled with this season). Shalethia Stringfield scored 9 points and added 4 rebounds, giving the Bulls a spark off the bench (going to be a special player for Fernandez, mark my words).
The Bulls needed this win as they prepare for their final non-conference test on the road next Thursday as they travel to New Jersey to take on Dayton in the first round of the Saint Peter's Holiday Classic (game scheduled for 5PM).
