Kaneisha Saunders added a huge spark for the Bulls off the bench as the ladies rally to beat Seton Hall. |
Down 12 points at one point, the USF ladies rallied to beat Seton Hall 57 to 45 (taking the season series) to improve to 12-9 (4-3) on the season.
The Bulls overcame a bad shooting night where they shot just 1 of 14 from 3-point range, but forced 21 turnovers as they stormed back in the second half to take the lead for good.
Jasmine Wynne once again led the Bulls with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals. This is her 17th straight game scoring in double digits, making a case for MVP on the season. Tiffany Conner had 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Caitlin Rowe had 4 rebounds and 3 blocks on the night, providing strong defense despite the poor shooting night. Shalethia Stringfield had 5 points and 2 rebounds. Inga Orekhova had just 5 points (shot 0 of 7 from 3-point range) and had 2 steals on the night.
Kaneisha Saunders provided a huge spark for Fernandez off the bench, adding 13 points, 6 assists and 4 steals on the night. Tahira Johnson had 2 points and 8 rebounds. Andrell Smith had 5 points and 2 assists. Sasha Bernard had 3 points and Akila McDonald had 4 points and 2 rebounds on the night.
This was a huge win for the ladies. With the 12th win, they have matched last year's win total and with 4 Big East wins, they have beaten the lonely 3 wins of last year. The team was off tonight when it came to shooting, but they were able to come together, rally, and get the win. They will need to rally even more as they hit the road to take on UCONN on Saturday afternoon on the road (game starts at 1PM)
