USF Baseball Beats Minnesota on Strange Rule

Andrew Barbosa made a great return for the Bulls as they improve to 3-0 on the season after a strange game.
The USF Bulls, on the final day of the Big East/Big Ten Challenge were able to beat the Minnesota Golden Gophers 4 to 3 on a very strange and bizarre circumstance.  Minnesota was forced to forfeit the game due to their travel schedule, forcing them to lose the game when they had two batters on and no outs in the 8th inning.  This is a very strange circumstance for any game, but it is in the books and USF is now 3-0 to start the season (first 3-0 start since 2007).

Alex Mendez was 1 for 3 with a steal in the game.  Daniel Rockhold was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Todd Brazeal was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs as the continues his incredible start to 2012.  Chad Taylor was 2 for 3 with a run scored.  Blake Sydeski was 1 for 3 with an RBI as well.

The Bulls got to work in some of their pitchers that were returning from injuries.  Andrew Barbosa, who missed most of last year with Tommy John Surgery, worked 2 innings, allowing 2 runs, 2 walks, and struck out 3 as the Bulls worked him into the game with a pitch count.  Derrick Stultz, after missing two years, worked 2.2. innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 run, walking 1 and striking out 4.  Andrew Loynaz went 2 innings, allowing 1 walk and struck out 2 as the USF bullpen continued it's impressive start to the season.

No matter how the Bulls won the game, they are 3-0 to start 2012, capping a great weekend for the Bulls on the diamond.  They will now open up their home opener on Thursday night at 7PM, everyone needs to get to the game and show your support and get behind this great start.
