USF WBB Knocks Off Marquette

The USF ladies were able to notch a huge win on the road tonight as they beat 61 to 48 over Marquette, improving to 14-13 (6-7) on the season.  The Bulls had a strong lead in the first half, but a late rally by Marquette brought them close, but not close enough as the Bulls prevail without the services of top scorer Jasmine Wynne who is still recovering from her concussion.

Tahira Johnson had just one point but added 6 rebounds.  Andrell Smith had 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists.  The guards did an excellent job in the game in battling in the paint and helping rebound.  Caitlin Rowe had 7 points and 2 rebounds.  Sasha Bernard had 10 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals.  Inga Orekhova struggled from 3-points, shooting just 2 of 12, but she did score 14 points, added 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.  Kaneisha Saunders had 6 points and 3 rebounds.  Tiffany Conner had 7 points and added 10 rebounds.  Shalethia Stringfield had 4 points and 2 rebounds as well.

This is a huge win for the Bulls, both in conference standings and for their overall records as the climb above .500 and look to make a late season run at the possible NIT.  The Bulls return home to take on Pitt on Saturday night at home, the game starts at 7PM.
