USF WBB Takes on St. John's

After a tough road loss to Syracuse on Saturday, the USF ladies, 12-12 (4-6) are back on the road as they travel back to New York to face St. John's.  SJU is 15-8 (7-3) on the season (10-3 at home) and are coming off of a dominating 55 to 25 win over Seton Hall.  The USF ladies, who had a hard time finding their range against Syracuse, need to come out firing in this game (game scheduled to start at 11:30AM, once again, another early start for USF).  The Bulls will also be without Jasmine Wynne, who suffered a concussion vs. Syracuse and without Shalethia Stringfield, who is away due to a family emergency.

SJU is led by junior guard Eugene McPherson (5-8).  She is averaging 13.3 points per game (shooting 33% from 3-point range), 3.2 rebounds per game, and has 47 steals on the season.  Junior guard Shenneika Smith (6-1) is averaging 12.7 points per game, 7 rebounds per game, and has 31 blocks on the season, so driving on her is no easy task.

Senior guard Nadirah McKenith (5-7) is averaging 11.2 points per game, 5.6 rebounds per game, and leads the Red Storm with 4.3 assists per game.  Freshman forward Amber Thompson is averaging 7.4 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game.  Junior forward Mary Nwachukwu (6-2) is averaging 4.1 points per game and 2.2 rebounds per game.  Senior forward Da'Shena Stevens (6-1) is averaging 9.5 points per game and 6 rebounds per game.  Sophomore guard Keylantra Langley (5-9) is averaging 4.8 points per game and 2.4 rebounds per game as well.

USF really needs this win.  They have dropped a few games now and have a losing record in league play and could fall below .500 for the season if they are not able to put together a solid performance.  Their dreams of reaching an NIT bid are sliding away and they need to come up big with a huge road win if they want to keep those dreams alive.
