USF Baseball Beats FAMU

The USF Bulls kept their winning streak alive as they rallied in the 9th to beat FAMU 6 to 5, getting a walk-off win on a fielder's choice by Kyle Teaf to drive in Luis Llerena as the Bulls improve to 18-8 (3-0) on the year.

FAMU jumped on the board early, scoring 2 runs to go ahead to start the game, but the USF pitching put a stop to that and the timely hitting of the offense came around and got the job done.

Alex Mendez went 0 for 1 with an RBI and walked 3 times.  James Ramsay went 1 for 5 with an RBI.  Todd Brazeal went 2 for 3.  Luis Llerena went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and scored 2 runs, none being bigger than the game winner.

Devin Smith got the start, working 4 innings, allowing 7 hits, 2 runs, and struck out 4 batters.  Derrick Stultz went 1 inning in relief, walking 2 and striking out 1.  Kyle Parker went 1 inning, allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, and struck out 2 batters. Adrian Puig worked 1 inning, allowing 2 hits and 1 run.  Nick Gonzalez sealed the deal, working the last 2 innings, striking out 3 batters, collecting the win to improve to 2-1 on the year.

The Bulls will now host Notre Dame as they come to Tampa for the weekend, starting with a game on Friday night at 7PM.
