USF Softball Hits the Road to Take on Pitt

The USF Bulls, 30-5 (3-0) on the year and fresh off of their big win over 4th ranked Florida, hit the road to continue their Big East portion of the schedule, facing Pitt over the weekend.

Pitt enters the series at 16-13 (0-3) on the year and are 2-2 at home.  They will be looking for a big weekend on their home field, so the Bulls have to be ready for them and come out swinging away as they try to continue to rack up the wins (two games today in the double header, the first at 12 noon, the second game at 2PM. They wrap up the series on Sunday at 11AM).

Pitt is led by senior outfielder Yvette Bravo who is batting .294 with 2 home runs and 10 RBIs on the year.  Junior catcher Holly Stevens is batting .289 with 4 home runs and 18 RBIs.  Freshman short stop/2B Maggie Sevilla is batting .266 with 4 home runs, 2 doubles, and has 13 RBIs.  Senior 1B/3B Ciera Damon is batting .263 with 1 home run and 5 RBIs to round out a balanced lineup for the Panthers.

Their pitching staff is led by freshman Savannah King who is 11-7 on the year while working 119.1 innings, allowing 91 hits, 34 walks and has struck out 97 batters.  Fellow freshman Alexa Larkin is 4-5 while throwing 63.1 innings, allowing 63 hits, 22 walks, and has struck out 46 batters.

The Bulls are on a roll right now, but on the road and facing an opponent that is looking for the upset, USF needs to be ready for this service.  If they can build off their win over Florida and keep the hitting going and have Nevins and Greiner continue to throw heat, the team should take this series over the weekend.
