After dropping the first game of the series yesterday to Pitt, the Bulls rallied from a 1st inning deficit to beat the Panthers 6 to 5, improving their record to 24-12 (9-2) on the year.
Joey Lovecchio worked 6 innings, allowing 8 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and struck out 3 batters. Lovecchio struggled in the first inning but after that he was able to regroup and get out trouble and get a productive start. Nick Gonzalez worked 2.1 innings, allowing 2 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and struck out 1 batter. Steven Leasure worked two thirds of an inning as well.
The offense came to life after being held quiet in the first game of the series. Alex Mendez went 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored and drove an a run. James Ramsay went 2 for 5. Zac Gilcrease went 1 for 4 with a run scored. Kyle Teaf went 2 for 5. Luis Llerena went 2 for 4. The big bat today was Todd Brazeal who went 3 for 5 with a home run and drove in 4 RBIs on the day for help fuel the Bulls offense to the big win.
This is a big win for the Bulls as they look to keep pace in the Big East title race. USF will wrap up their series tomorrow at 1PM as they try to take the rubber match between the two sides.
