USF Softball Splits Double Header

The 18th ranked Bulls hit the road for a 3-game road trip at UCONN starting with a key double header today as they tried to continue their impressive 18-game winning streak.
In the first game, Sara Nevins was not as sharp as usual (still incredible though).  She worked 5.2 innings, allowing 7 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and struck out 8 as the Bulls won 6 to 2 in 8 innings.  The Bulls were held in check for most of the game, but scored 4 runs in the top of the 8th to seal the deal.  Lindsey Richardson worked 1.2 innings in relief of Nevins, walking 1 and struck out 3 to end the game.  The offense was productive late after being held in check by the Huskies.  Stephanie Medina went 1 for 3 and scored a run.  Janine Richardson went 3 for 4 with a home run, knocked in 2 RBIs and scored 3 runs.  Kourtney Salvarola went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs.  Jessica Mouse went 0 for 2 but drove in two runs.

The Bulls were finally defeated in game two, falling 3 to 7, ending their 19-game winning streak as they fall to 39-6 (12-1) on the year. Sam Greiner struggled in her start, working just 3 innings, allowing 5 hits, 4 runs, and walked 1.  Sara Nevins worked 3 innings, allowing 5 hits, 3 runs, and struck out 2 batters.  The offense was quiet in the second game.  Laura Fountain went 2 for 3 with an RBI.  Kourtney went 0 for 3 with an RBI as well.

USF is now 39-6 (12-1) on the year and will look to take the series tomorrow at 11AM.
