USF Lands Defensive End Transfer from Notre Dame

The Bulls have landed one of the biggest transfers in program history. Freshman defensive end Aaron Lynch, the former 4-star recruit who played last season at Notre Dame, will transfer to USF according to Coach Holtz, Josh Newberg (247 Sports), several other sources.  Lynch has signed his scholarship paper and will enroll for the Summer B session starting on June 25th (per Andy Staples).

The 6-6 270-pound star had 33 tackles last season and led the Irish with 5.5 sacks in limited playing time last season.  Lynch stated he wanted to play closer to home (Cape Coral) and would transfer back to Florida and now USF is the landing spot.

This is huge. Lynch is considered by many a monster in the making at the defensive end position.  He has a huge frame, long wing-span, and has a knack for getting to the quarterback and causing trouble for offenses.  He flashed that ability at Notre Dame and now he brings his skill set to the Bulls.

Lynch will have to sit out the 2012 season due to the NCAA transfer rules, but should have 3 years of eligibility after that, giving Holtz a big time pass rusher for the 2013 season.  Welcome to the USF family Mr. Lynch!
