USF Softball Drops Both Games of Double Header to Louisville

The Bulls hit the road to take on the 9th ranked Louisville Cardinals in a huge double header that could determine the fate of the regular season Big East title.

USF didn't have it in the first game, dropping the contest 1 to 4 despite the multiple hits the Bulls had and all the chances they had.  Sara Nevins was chased early, working 3 innings, allowing 3 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and struck out 3 batters.  Sam Greiner came in to work 2 innings, allowing 1 run, 1 walk, and struck out 1 batter.  Lindsey Richardson worked 1 inning, allowing 1 hit, and struck out 2.  Kourtney Salvarola went 2 for 3.  Jessica Mouse went 1 for 4 with an RBI, scoring Janine Richardson.  Laura Fountain went 1 for 2 as well.

In game 2, the Bulls had an even worse game, falling in 5 innings 0 to 9 to the Cardinals, dropping to 40-8 (13-3) on the season overall.  Sara Nevins struggled again, working just 3.1 innings, allowing 3 hits, 5 runs, 2 walks, and struck out 4 batters.  Sam Greiner worked 1 innings, allowing 2 hits, 3 runs, and walked 2.  Lindsey Richardson allowed a hit and struck out 1.  Kourtney Salvarola went 2 for 2.  Ashli Goff went 1 for 2 in a very quiet evening for the Bulls.

Dropping both games hurts and makes the regular season title up for grabs.  The Bulls will have the weekend off before returning to action next Wednesday at 5PM back on campus.
