Top 5 Defensive Players from 2011: Number 3

So far we have had Ryne Giddins and Jerrell Young make the countdown list as the top defensive players from 2011.  As we get closer to the number one player from 2011, the list gets tighter as we try to  determine who will get the number one spot.  Let's take a look at the number three player.

At number three on the list is defensive back Kayvon Webster. Webster, starting the entire season for the first time in his career (had been a reserve before this year) came up huge for the Bulls, shutting down half the field in the secondary.

Webster had a huge season, coming up with huge plays for the Bulls.  He had 49 tackles on the season, including one tackle for loss, two interceptions, and 7 pass break ups, showing his skill to match up with any receiver and take them away.  His most memorable play was scooping up the Jerrell Young forced fumble against Notre Dame and taking it back for the huge touchdown in that historic win.

Webster is a skilled defender and has incredible speed (competes for USF track team as well) that allows him to keep up with any wide receiver in the conference and take them away.

So Webster comes in at number three on the list.  Thin he should be rated higher or do you think that Young or Giddins should take this position?  Share your thoughts.

  1. Nice choice on Webster at this spot. He has potential to be one of the best CBs that we've been blessed to have here. Keep working hard Kayvon, GO BULLS!!!
