Scouting Temple: Offense

The Temple offense is known for running the ball, but does have a few other skill players that will challenge the USF defense and force them to be ready for anything.  Let's see what the Bulls defense will be facing in this game.

Starting with the offensive line is redshirt freshman left tackle Zach Hooks (6-6 280-pounds).  Behind him is junior Evan Regous (6-4 306-pounds) and sophomore Elijah Grant (6-6 335-pounds).  At left guard is junior Jeff Whittingham (6-2 305-pounds), behind him is sophomore Adam Metz (6-5 300-pounds), and redshirt freshman Will Rathbone (6-5 275-pounds).  At center is senior Sean Boyle (6-5 300-pounds) and behind him is redshirt freshman Jacob Quinn (6-5 275-pounds).  At right guard is sophomore Jaimen Newman (6-4 294-pounds) and behind him is junior Scott Roorda (6-3 302-pounds).  At right tackle is junior Martin Wallace (6-6 300-pounds).  Behind him is redshirt freshman Eric Lofton (6-5 280-pounds) and sophomore Joe Cenatiempo (6-7 285-pounds).

At quarterback is junior Chris Coyer (6-3 20-pounds).  He is just 25 out of 55 attempts this season (just 45%) for 363 yards, including 4 touchdowns and 1 interception.  He has carried the ball 43 times for 197 yards and one touchdown.  Behind him on the depth chart is junior Clinton Granger (6-3 220-pounds) and sophomore Connor Reilly (6-2 200-pounds).  As we have been talking about all week, Temple is not the best passing team and they rely on the running game the most to get the ball moved down the field.  USF will have to watch for the play action of course, but the passing game is not the strong suite of the Owls.

At the tailback position is senior Matt Brown (5-5 165-pounds) who leads the team with 33 carries for 202 yards and one touchdown on the season (2 receptions for 5 yards and one touchdown).  Senior Montel Harris (5-10 207-pounds) has 15 carries for 35 yards (transferred in from Boston College) and has 4 receptions for 50 yards. Behind these two are sophomore Kenny Harper (6-0 225-pounds) who has 11 carries for 52 yards and two touchdowns (3 receptions for 12 yards and one touchdown) and redshirt freshman Spencer Reid (5-10 205-pounds).  At fullback is junior Wyatt Benson (6-0 228-pounds) and behind him is Dan VanNorten (6-0 240-pounds).

At the Z wide receiver position is senior C.J. Hammond (6-0 240-pounds) who has one catch for 62 yards for a touchdown.  Behind him is junior Tyron Harris (6-3 195-pounds).  At the X wide receiver position is junior Dean Miller (6-5 210-pounds) who has 1 catch for 12 yards.  At the A wide receiver position is junior Ryan Alderman (5-9 170-pounds) who has 4 receptions for 42 yards.  Behind him is sophomore Jalen Fitzpatrick (5-11 180-pounds) who has 6 receptions for 128 yards and one touchdown (has become the favorite target for Coyer).  At the tight end position is junior Cody Booth (6-5 250-pounds) who has 2 receptions for 14 yards and behind him is junior Alex Jackson (6-4 250-pounds) who has 1 catch for 26 yards.  Like we have been saying all week, Temple is not a huge offensive force and when they do attack, they do it one the ground.
