The Morning After: Where Do We Go from Here?

28 to 37.  That was the final score for the Bulls as they fell to Temple yesterday afternoon.  The Bulls are now 2-4 (0-2) on the year as they enter the bye week looking to recover and soul search after another ugly loss.

Let's start with the offense.  The Bulls battled for 384 yards of offense, battling with a hobbled B.J. Daniels that was dealing with a sore ankle that took him out of the game from rushing the ball.  He completed 18 out of 31 attempts for 219 yards for one touchdown and one interception.  He rushed the ball 9 times for 6 yards and scored one touchdown.  Daniels on several plays was not able to escape and pick up yards.  The few times he did rush, he got out of bounds and did not push it on the ankle.  He threw the ball fairly well, but the wide receivers dropped 7 passes and Andre Davis was once again a non-factor.  Lindsey Lamar had 3 receptions for 33 yards and a score.  Evan Landi had 2 for 18.  Terrence Mitchell had 3 for 31.  Victor Marc had 3 for 41.  Marcus Shaw had 1 for 18 and Davis had just 2 for 21.  A lot of the passes were check down type passes, showing how the offense was unable to get the ball down the field the entire game.

The rush game didn't help too much, despite getting some gains.  Without Daniels running, the Bulls just couldn't get it done.  Demetris Murray had 19 rushes for 80 and a touchdown.  Shaw had 4 for 17 yards, Marc had 1 for 7, and Lamar had 10 for 57 yards and a touchdown.  The Bulls did score points, but most of them came late and the offense on several occasions came up short and were forced on 3 and outs.  The execution was not there for the unit and down the stretch could not get the job done.

On defense, the Bulls allowed Temple to run all over them.  There were huge rushes against them inside and on the edges.  They failed to get a turnover and did not record an interception, the only team left in FBS to get a pick this season.  JaQuez Jenkins had 5 tackles, Kayvon Webster had 8 tackles, Mark Joyce had 5 tackles, Dede Lattimore had 8 tackles, and Sam Barrington had 8 tackles.  The team struggled to get a pass rush in the game and allowed the Owls to hit the edges on several plays and allowed deep passes when they couldn't allow a deep throw.

The Bull now hit the bye week looking for answers, I hope they find them soon.
